Pope Francis humbly presenting himself to the people.

To those reading this who know me, I promise this to be one of the few mild posts I offer up. I will soon start up with the rants and all that, but right now I have to say today was a great day! Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio of Argentina was elected the 266th pope of the Holy Catholic Church and has taken the name Francis. This election was so awesome and historical for so many reasons and I was glad to be watching it live with good friends and my family. If you are interested in learning more about Pope Francis I have shared an article about him on my Facebook page Erik the Catholic Guy(http://www.facebook.com/pages/Erik-the-Catholic-Guy/502134733166259?ref=hl) It's a blog by Tim Staples from Catholic Answers which is also a great place to get info on the popes and Catholic teaching on the subject. I realize some who may read this blog don't know or fully understand or agree with the Church or Her teachings from Scripture on the Papacy so Catholic.com (Catholic Answers) is a great resource. God Bless.

Habemus Papem!

Just a quick post before going to work.  We have a new POPE! Viva Pope Francis I! He looks so humble and I am so excited! More to come on our new Holy Father.

Look Ma, I'm a Blogger!

So, I'm driving home today with the family and my wife is checking Facebook on her phone. She must have seen yet another of my comments (rants) to a friends post. This one happened to be a link to an article about legalizing pot and I, being the not-so-humble and opinionated person I am, posted a couple lengthy responses. So, my wife (oh yeah, her name's Cassandra)....so Cassandra tells me how my voice really comes through well in my posts and that I should start a blog so 1). I stop bombing my friends' Facebook posts and 2). I stop ranting to her about whats on my mind 'cause she's pretty much the only outlet I currently have when something is on my mind.

I gotta say that I've been toying with the idea lately, especially because I feel there is a void in the Bloggosphere that needs to be filled. My wife reads so many blogs for Catholic women and moms and has made some good friends online through forums and such. But, where is the guy version of all these blogs? Where can Catholics who are dudes struggling with dude stuff to go to sound off? We struggle with all kinds of stuff like raising our kids right, being attentive and loving husbands, and just living an authentic Catholic life in a world full of pornography, materialism and all kinds of other crap. Oh, and not to mention what's going on in the country politically and morally!

On any given day I'm trolling Facebook posting and sharing all kinds of stuff from the assault on our 2nd Amendment rights to pro-Life stuff to what's happening on the State and Federal level of government and on and on....and I'm sure some of my Facebook friends are cool with it. Some just ignore my posts or like them and some may even unsubscribe from my posts. But the problem with the medium of Facebook is that the posts don't last. People move on. They have to, even if the post generated some good discussion. That's where this blog comes in. This is where I can get out my thoughts and concerns on stuff and really give them some deeper though and consideration and hopefully get input from other dudes out there who are going through the same crap I am.

So this is it. This is my Blog, for what it is. All I ask is that anyone who wants to comment on what I've written be charitable. I love discussion and LOVE to argue so if you disagree or what to challenge me-game on! But don't put something out there designed just to piss people off. If you truly believe in your message than lets hear it, but be intellectually honest enough to truly engage me point by point. In other words, I'm not interested in hearing your talking points. I want to create a place where I can sound off on stuff that's bugging me and hear from other guys who might have thoughts or advice or just want to say, "yeah man, I'm dealing with the same thing." With that said, and God willing....here we go!
